The Oscar selections

From today i would be checking on some of the works of 2011 which could possibly make an entry into the Oscars being held on Feb 2012. As usual the Golden globes nomination list has already been announced and we have a slight view on the favourites this year, and almost every time the films from this list usually makes it to the Oscars. Will be waiting for the results of the winners of the Golden Globe Awards 2012, who will be awarded on the 15th of January next year.

There will be ten nominations for the best film category, and the movies which would try to be on the top are these :

We will also see a very tight competition for the spot of the best actor this year with some really good characters being potrayed this year, my favourites being Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling.

The same uncertainity goes for the best actress awards too. Though in the golden globes Kate Winslet led the nominations race, the same cant be necessarily happening at the Oscars. Meryl Streep might get yet another nomination this year too. I really would like to see 'My week with Marilyn' to assess Michelle's work which i think would be one of the best this year.

There are still more movies which haven't got their due in the golden globes. The dangerous Method, and Extremely Loud and Incredibly close also could feature in the list.

From today i will be watching these movies and letting you know if they really have it in them to go the distance, or maybe you could decide for yourself. Keep coming back for more :)

Padmaavat(i) - is a lavish visual spectacle from the master of Indian magnum opus, Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Aningaaq : Jonas Cuaron's 'Gravity' spin off explores the other side to Bullock's distress call

Remember this scene from 'Gravity' where Sandra Bullock's character Ryan Stone, loses all hope of surviving and shuts down her drone. Just before that she finds peace in her conversation through her transmitter with a guy called Aningaaq. You hear his voice, and his speech, a dogs bark and a crying child. Have you wondered who they were? Well, you don't have to any more. Jonas Cuaron, son of the director Alfonso Cuaron himself, who co-wrote 'gravity' alongside his father, wrote a shortie based on this conversation. Financed by Warner Videos, who wanted the short to come out with their Blu-ray editions, found the short's potential to be much more than they intended. Avengers final trailer turns the tables in Avengers favor

The two big trailers we saw in the past couple of months, for Avengers saw the invincible tea bowing down to a great AI threat Ultron. From the brooding ambiance all through those trailers there was a feeling of defeat of Avengers. But now Marvel has come out with the latest trailer which turns the tables. It not only shows the Avengers are all one team, (even the ones currently in doubt), but also shows us some stunning action where they 'kick ass' of Ultron and his minions.
